ALC make and supply aluminium columns, which conform to BS EN 40, have a 50-year life expectancy, and have material properties which eliminate protective maintenance. The aluminium construction offers additional benefits in terms of reduced weight (ease of handling and installation), passive safety in the event of vehicle impact, and full recyclability at life end. Maintenance savings and extended life contribute to substantial whole life costs benefits.

The unique construction method employs an extruded shaft plus inner sleeving to the lower part of the column shaft, providing high load carrying capacity.

We offer columns in a variety of sections (stepped, tapered, etc) plus embellishment kits, and a wide range of bracketry. Bespoke solutions are available to meet the needs of individual projects, and ALC have a wide experience of working with specifiers to generate specialised equipment. Advanced 3-D computer modelling is used in the design of variants.

We also offer 'Echalon', a hinged raise and lower aluminium column for urban usage, enabling single-operative lantern access without the need for mechanical hoists. High security and vandal resistance are key features of this patented design.

ALC operate a policy of holding substantial stocks, and offering short lead times. Our columns are installed throughout the UK, many operating successfully in extremely exposed locations.
